MALADIE is disturbing and manages to captivate the listener nonetheless. Like a disease that slowly makes itself known and then takes hold for an (un)specified period of time. Musically, MALADIE couldn't be categorized even with their debut album '...Plague Within...'. Over the years, the mix of styles from the Rheinland-Pfalz region has only become wilder, and on 'For We Are The Plague' it reaches another extreme. Jazz meets gothic rock, black metal meets interludes reminiscent of film soundtracks like those by Danny Elfman, and electronic beats find their way into the sound, blending with groovy hard rock. Just as free as the instrumental work is the vocals, covering the complete spectrum from clean singing to screams. The lyrics also make it clear how 'colorful' gray can be, because in real life, there is neither black nor white. Titles like 'With One Voice' and 'I Am The Tomb' couldn't be more different, but here they can coexist and complement each other. With their seventh album 'For We Are The Plague,' MALADIE solidify the idea that in music, not everything has been said and certainly not everything has already been heard. MALADIE is their own genre.
